Surrey Heath & Frimley Probus’ 5 day visit to Norfolk
The short holiday involved a walking tour of Norwich (including the Cathedral and the Art Deco arcade), a visit to Sandringham, a boat trip on the Norfolk Broads and a single journey on the Bure Valley Railway. The party also visited Blickling Hall as well as visiting Ely on the outward journey and Anglesey Abbey on the return.
Visit to RMA - 24th October 2018
Organised by Stan Oakes, a group of 17 members & guests took a c2.5 hour tour of the RMA,
led by Peter Miller (Probus club member) & colleague Tony. We were blessed with a sunny day
& had a fascinating insight into the history of the various buildings. Also, a description of the life
of a cadet from initial selection to passing-out as an officer.
Quiz – 28th February at Camberley Cricket Club
Despite the snow, we had a good turnout for the quiz, with 6 teams competing for the prizes. The quiz was compiled by Mike Duckworth, ably assisted by Stan & Margaret Oakes and managed to test the memories of all attending. The result was a tie between two groups & the tie breaker impressively won by the group who correctly answered how many toes Marilyn Monroe had on her left foot!

The annual "Mulled Wine and Mince Pie" do at St. Anne's Hall, Bagshot, was well attended with about 40 people, members and guests, present (see photos of some of the members, guests & magician). In addition to the well served provisions of Mulled wine from Stan Oakes, there was also an excellent cake, mince pies and other nibbles to keep everybody happy.
For our entertainment, Stan had booked the services of a magician - tricks with coins , cottons, gauze and other props performed at the tables "Before your very eyes" and clearly impossible.
Altogether a very pleasant evening, thanks to Stan and Margaret & team. (Cake courtesy of Janice Leney.)
